NC's Community Based Programs' Database Management Project
Since 2000, faculty and staff affiliated with Appalachian State University have contracted with North Carolina's
Division of Social Services to create and implement a web-based database and evaluation protocol. The database
is used by family support and family resource center providers throughout the state, and by state and regional
Division staff. In addition, the evaluation team also develops web-based information systems for the Division's
Intensive Family Preservation Services Program, the Family Preservation Services Program, and the Reunification
Program. This innovative project has resulted in improved evaluation of services to families across North Carolina.
The data collected also has allowed the Division to report accurately and effectively services to legislators of
North Carolina's General Assembly.
