NC Strategic Prevention Framework-State Incentive Grant: Alcohol-Related Crashes and Fatalities
In the fall of 2007, Appalachian State University began working with the Smoky Local Management Entity, and a variety of local community partners (Law Enforcement, Western Youth Network, MADD) to conduct a needs/resources assessment to better understand the high rates of alcohol-related crashes in Watauga County. The needs assessment will be used to direct a strategic plan for the county to address how to reduce alcohol-related traffic crashes and fatalities utilizing evidence based strategies. Appalachian State University will continue to be involved with evaluation of implemented strategies across the next 2-3 years.
